What I’m listening to: Pandora’s 90’s Christmas Radio
What I’m reading: How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas C. Foster
Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I’m finally getting over a sickness that took over for about 3 weeks, but I was still able to enjoy time with family. I’ve been stuck in a rut lately, and being sick just made it worse. It’s so easy for me to slip into the work and sleep mode and before long I’m just going through the motions day after day.
Luckily, the holidays have a way of breaking up routine that’s been helping out a bit. Last Monday, Dave and I were able to attend the member only tree lighting party at Frederik Meijer Gardens to kick off their holiday displays. If you’ve never been, or even if you’ve been many times, this is one of my favorite Grand Rapids holiday activities. It’s hard to not get into the holiday spirit when you’re surrounded by beautiful Christmas trees! The Railway Garden is truly remarkable as well, the detail in each of those creations is amazing! It’s no wonder we spent most of the time wandering in there and taking lots of pictures.
Thanksgiving weekend, Dave and I put up our Christmas tree and I participated in a little online shopping. I couldn’t pass up some of the great Amazon deals, and neither could my sister. We’re both now the proud owners of an Instant Pot. I’m pretty excited to try it out, and I’ll be sure to let you know how I like it!
I would love to tell you all more, but the truth is, I got so far behind. I still haven’t told you all about my amazing trip to Nashville in October with some of the best friends a girl could ask for! I’ve read a few books too, that I’m still trying to get my thoughts sorted on, because one was just a great retelling of a classic fairy tale, and I only read that to get over the bad book I read before it! Ha, how do you cope with reading a disappointing book? I clearly take a step back and go to a genre that almost never fails me. That being said, I’ve got over one hundred (yes, I said over 100!) books waiting to be read, which is why I’ve given serious thought to either bringing book reviews onto this site, or starting a whole new blog just for reviews because I’m going to have a lot!
Whatever I decide, I’m so thankful for you all during this, sometimes the best and sometimes the worst time of the year. I’m wishing you all peace, love, comfort, safety, and of course, delicious food, during this next month, and for the coming new year!
