I was nervous about this week because I had family visiting from out of state and just as I figured, we spent most of the week going out to eat as our social time. Dinners at breweries, breakfasts at diners… it was enough to make anyone go a little overboard. The other downside of this week that I knew was coming was my job starting to get into crazy season meaning lots of stress. What did we learn I do when I’m stressed? That’s right, I eat. And eat. And eat. By some miracle as you’ll soon find, this week ended on a surprising note.
The exercise: What was that again? For the effort of full disclosure on this blog so that you know I’m no perfect ‘say I’m going on a diet, then lose the weight in no time with a perfect routine and smile on my face’ kind of person, I am telling you right now, I never once did the Beachbody workouts this week. I did get off my behind one morning and complete a short walk around my neighborhood, but other than that I practiced being lazy. In case you were wondering, I am in fact very good at being lazy.
The diet: I touched on this briefly, but I wanted to go into a bit more detail because I wanted to let you know that I was at least more aware of my food choices. You might not believe it, but I actually skipped the bacon at breakfast! (I know, I know.. I must not be an American) I went with eggs and toast. Most of the weekend, I stuck with water and managed to get my daily amounts in more than once. (For reference, I’m following the drink half your body weight in ounces rule).
The results: After all of this, I stepped on the scale Monday morning covering my face and barely looking, convinced I’d be up a few pounds. Much to my surprise, the number staring back at me was 215.8lbs. I had gone back to my original loss of 2lbs! I honestly think most of that can be attributed to actually getting my water in so I wasn’t dehydrated, but also just becoming more and more aware of my portion sizes.
I spent a good portion of this Sunday cooking up some things in preparation for the week, so I’m eager to see how the rest of this week goes. See you next week for the results!
